Bordeaux to Toulouse

Monday 18th May.  Drive around Bourdeaux city for a look, stopped at a couple of parks along the river, nice steady start to the day.  Stopped for lunch at one of the service centres along the way, right up against a huge mountain range.  Taste of things to come we hope.  Bought a map of France, very frustrating not being able to see where we are going each day...we'll remember this for our next trip!!
Drove through Les Eyzies where there are prehistoric caves and they've found remains of Neanderthal settlement.  On to Sarlat-la-Caneda and stopped for a bit of shopping, had a gelati and bought some foi gras (goose liver pate) not sure we will be allowed to get it back in to Australia...we'll try.
Drove in to Rockamador, this is a religious site where miracles are reported to have occurred.....an abbot died here centuries ago and his body is still intact, it is the home of 'Black' Virgin Mary as she has appeared here on several occasions.  The building is actually built on the side of a cliff, don't know how it stays there and it is very hard to get photos of the precarious nature of the site.  Fabulous place where we bought a Nativity Scene.
Late leaving here on our way to Toulouse, it is the 4th largest city in France with 1.2 million.  It has a big aerospace and technology industry, it is also where Toulouse le Trek was born!!!  There is a canal which runs through it, the canal is 2,400 kms long and years ago linked the Atlantic Ocean with the Mediterranean Sea, some of it has been built over or blocked these days but there are people in France trying to restore many parts of it.  Finally got to the motel about 8.30, had pizza for tea.
