Paris to Caen

Wednesday 13th May - As predicted, up early and on the road.  First stop Rouen.  Visited the Cathedral where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in 1431.  Amazing feeling standing on the very spot where such historic events took place.  Some of the buildings still have bullet holes in them from WW2.  Had lunch while wandering around the town...they make BIG salad rolls in France!!!  Checked out the Rue du Gros-Horloge where there is a clock made in 1389, takes pride of place in an archway over the narrow street.  On to Honfleur, a port city on the English Channel.  Beautiful wooden Cathedral, allegedly the largest in the world and built about 500 years ago, you'd think with all the wars since then it would have been burnt down, apparently not.  Nice harbour with the sun trying to come out, no rain today but it has been very overcast again.
Staying in Caen overnight, it will be a late night and another early morning no doubt.

Rainy morning - but we're going to Vernon and he is a little ray of sunshine!!!

Having coffee with 'Watson'.  He was a friend given to Pam by her teaching partner.  We had to take photos throughout the trip to send to her students so they could follow her through France.

The sun is almost out!!!
