That is such a long flight, stopover in Singapore for 3 hours then back into it again. Arrived in Charles de Gaulle Airport at about 7am, lots of bare concrete buildings and not very attractive at all. Going through customs we saw an African man pulled from the queue and taken to one side, he was a little noisy and obviously upset....looked like an episode from Border Patrol!!
Finally cleared customs and we had organised to have a car and driver waiting for us at a certain spot. He wasn't there so they had given us a number to ring. After lots of getting lost and a bit of frustration we finally caught up with him. Got into a mini-bus with about 4 other people and headed into Paris.
We were staying in the motel (The Forest Hill) where our tour was leaving from, we were to meet the group the next evening. The driver pulled up in the street and told us that this was where we get out....no idea where the motel was. When we asked him he pointed to a building about 200 metres down the road, looked like he wanted to turn off before that and he just got us to walk the rest of the way. Thought it was a bit of a waste of money, but we walked down and our room was ready which was a relief after such a long journey.
We had booked a cruise along the St Martin Canal on the Seine River.
The cruise left from near our hotel so we walked to the boat terminal past the Science Museum and had a relaxing cruise through a heap of locks and into the Seine and to the centre of Paris. The weather is very overcast and there has been a bit of rain. There was a large group of German tourists on the boat so it was pretty full. We were pretty tired so we kept getting up and walking around the boat.
After the cruise we even managed to find our way back to the motel!!!
Had tea at Hippos Restaurant, nice glass of wine and a beer and were in bed by 7.30.
