Lyon to Paris

Saturday 23rd May  The last day of our tour and a 500 kilometre drive to Paris.  Left the motel at 7.30 and stopped for smoko at Beaume and had a tour through the winery there, also had a chance to visit the markets before we were back on the bus.  Stopped for lunch at a service centre and drove in to Paris at about 4pm.  Drove along the Seine and got our first look at the Eiffel Tower - very impressed.  Had a quick tourist drive around Paris - past the Arc de Triomph, Opera House, art galleries, walk through Nortre Dame and up to Sacre Coeur.  Can't wait now to get in to the Paris life for 10 days.  Last night of our tour.  Had dinner near the Moulin Rouge, snails and frogs legs on the menu!!!  Wonderful night with a big celebration back to the motel before all our good-byes in the morning.

Wine casks in Beaume

Tasting time

These are the valuable ones

These are just old and dusty - still date from 1970

Back in Paris - the Seine

Wow - what a structure!!!

From the Trocadero building with the bridge across the Seine to the Eiffel Tower.  This is the spot where Hitler stood and proclaimed he now 'owned' Paris.

Had to get a selfie!!!

Arc de Triumph

Opera House, waited for the others near here, walked in to one of the cafes close to have a drink....1 beer, 1 wine....40 euro....I think they saw us coming!!!!

The back of Nortre Dame

One way of getting up/down

Lots of little art galleries and craft shops around the church

Another way of getting up/down

Gypsys waiting for the unsuspecting tourists - lucky we were too quick for them!!

On our way to tea - apparently down some back alley and in to a cellar

Tastes just like chicken

Celebrations all round
